The story behind Soul Float …..

Hi, Im Rachel, the founder of Soul Float.

My journey with floatation therapy began over 20 years ago when I was given a float experience as a gift in Oxford in 2002. I had absolutely no idea what to expect.

What followed was a level of relaxation I had never experienced before, so much so that on my way out, the receptionist reminded me to take care crossing the road on my way home, I was that relaxed!

It was a small moment, but one I never forgot.

Having always been drawn to the water, I went on to work in marine conservation around the world; living, diving and travelling through Central America, the Seychelles, Asia, New Zealand and the South Pacific, before spending 12 years in the superyacht industry, travelling extensively and working predominantly on large sailing yachts.

I loved the travel, adventure and discovering new places but over time the intensity of the lifestyle began to affect my physical and mental wellbeing. I was eventually diagnosed with an autoimmune condition, which forced me to step back and reassess everything.

This led me to explore my health more deeply and begin a wellbeing journey that would totally change my direction in life. It was during this time, when I was based in Falmouth, that I remembered my first float and began searching for somewhere locally that offered floatation therapy, only to find there was nothing in or around Falmouth at the time

That was when the idea for Soul Float began.

While still working on yachts, I visited float centres around the world, to not only find that deep relaxation and reset that my body and mind needed but also shaping the vision for what Soul Float could become. I also discovered the amazing effects of Infrared sauna use and the benefits that it had on my own health.

These therapies, along with the guidance of a functional medicine practitioner, led me to completely heal myself of my earlier health diagnosis and ignite a passion for helping others to do the same.

In 2024, I left the yachting industry to focus on bringing Soul Float to life, finding just the right space for this dream took awhile but eventually it all came together and Soul Float opened its doors in February 2026.

As the vision grew, so did the space. Alongside floatation therapy, I wanted to include other therapies that had supported me or complemented the experience of slowing down and finding balance. Today, Soul Float is home to an infrared sauna, massage, yoga, pilates and holistic wellbeing treatments, all chosen with the same intention: helping people rest, recover and reconnect.
